Yahoo! announced that they will be killing some of their mobile apps. This apps are from different mobile platforms which includes Blackberry OS, Apple’s iOS and Android will no longer function. On it’s official mobile blog Yahoo! said: “Our plan is to keep moving, to keep innovating, and to continuously measure and scrutinize what’s working and what isn’t – so we can make room for great new products. In that spirit, today we’re decommissioning several of our current mobile apps.”

The app users will get notification about no further support of the apps. So how will you take this action of Yahoo’s!? Did they fail to match up with others? They clearly mentioned that they were unable to match up with the advancing requirements of the apps. Yahoo rarely had an improvement update for its app on any of the mobile platform. Example- I have been using Yahoo! messenger for Android from almost a year and I hardly remember that it had an update in this period of time.

Apps which no longer will be supported are:

  • Yahoo! Meme (iPad and iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Mim (iPad)
  • Yahoo! Answers (Android)
  • Yahoo! AppSpot (Android and iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Deals (iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Finance (BlackBerry)
  • Yahoo! Movies (Android)
  • Yahoo! News (Android)
  • Yahoo! Shopping (iPhone)
  • Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search (iPad and iPhone)

Some of the Apps which will continue to work and support are: Livestand for iPad, Hub for Android, Play for Android and their popular Yahoo! Mail, Messenger, Sportacular and Flickr.

Yahoo! we wish you luck that you come back good next time.
